iPhone sales increasing but what if …..

Apple once again raised iPhone sales but this time it has risen sevenfold! But you have to ask yourself what if Apple wasn’t locked into a contract with At&t? What if Apple had a contract with Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile and other providers? There would be such an increase in profit it would be ridiculous. Especially when consumers are still not satisfied with the service at At&t. At&t has dropped calls, not as many towers as verizon and when you don’t have as many towers it creates a greater strain on the phone draining its power.

One solution realizing this Apple has done is create the iPod touch which can be distributed to anybody. But it does not have a provider so it does not have access to a 3G network. The only access it has to the internet is a wireless router, or through usb cable. Ipod Touch looks just like iPhone but without the service provider becomes nothing more then a ipod with wireless capabilities.

I really wish the iPhone would partner up with Verizon, but apparently Verizon CEO is not too fond of Apple. But congratulations to Apple increasing sales, it looks as though a recession is looked upon in laughter to great companies.

How to secure your Wireless Router

Posted by Michael Washington On July - 12 - 2009

Nowadays everybody is using a wireless router, but the question is how secure is it? I guaranteed that most of America when first getting a wireless router has an open connection or WEP security encryption, and a WEP encryption can be cracked quite easily with tools you can download off the internet for free to enter your realm of the internet. Now the question lies how do I protect myself? Well thats why I’m here to answer.

I have broken down the different ways to protect yourself through router by breaking it down into three levels:

  1. Wireless encryption
  2. Unnamed connection
  3. Mac Authentication

Wireless Encryption

In order to protect your data from outsiders, you should encrypt, or scramble, it so that nobody else can read it.  Hence why wireless encryption was created. When selecting an encryption you have to choose between WEP or WPA.

WEP was the encryption scheme included with the first generation of wireless networking equipment. It is very easy to crack and contain several vulnerabilities. So don’t go with this!

WPA was created after WEP to solve this problem. WPA has a significantly stronger wireless encryption but the stronger security impacts performance. So you will not be able to download as quick as you use too.

Unnamed connection

A unnamed connection is the next level of encryption that works in a completely different way.  With an unnamed connection it doesn’t display the ID or name of the connection. So a hacker will not only have to figure out an encrypted password they will also have to figure out the name so that they can connect to it which can be a big headache.

Mac Authentication

Remember that headache we were talking about to give the hacker. Mac Authentication can give the migraine. Mac Authentication is the process of selecting what devices are allowed to connect to the router. The way you would do this is finding out your mac address of your computer and having it registered into the router’s software. After doing so hackers will have to decrypt your password, find out the connection name and figure out a way to connect to your router or get ahold of your laptop or desktop.

All of the features I have mention in this article can be found on the newest routers such as linksys or netgear.

What it takes to have the TOP WEBSITE!

Posted by Michael Washington On July - 4 - 2009

I have been design websites for some time now and I’m creating website for my upcoming company I’m producing (I can’t say what it is just but you will know by next month) and I have taken extensive time analyzing what makes a website the best. I have analyzed Google, Yahoo, Youtube, Facebook, Ebay, Amazon and even Apple.  And this is what I bring to you from my research.

1. Speed

All the top websites have quick load up times which quickly conveys the information to the viewer. Websites that take too long to load up drives potential viewers away. So what the top websites do is reduce unnecessary graphics and compress their scripts. I wrote an article before on Reducing load times and bandwidth usage. This article tells you how to compress your scripts with php. So when designing your website I would say design it so it loads up in at least under 7 seconds on T1 connection.

2. Color

One thing that every top website has is white as their background or a big color in your website. Not only that they have all the other colors work along with the white. Because certain colors make people feel a certain a way so its good to understand the philosophy of colors when designing a website with whether its with white or not. Every color conveys a certain feeling to your viewers. So know how to manipulate colors.

3. Keep it Simple

Do not make your website too complex. Know how to quickly deliver what your website is about in a few seconds. If you can do this effectively you will keep the viewer on your website if you got what they are looking for.

4. Excellent product or service that caters to the masses

Having an excellent product or service is something that greatly increases your website traffic period. If you have this you will not have to market your product because viral marketing will take over. Viral marketing is the fastest way to spread word about your product or service and all it is word of mouth which is better than SEO (Search Engine Optimization). If people like what you are presenting I guaranteed you will not have to do anything.

5. I can’t tell you everything yet, lol.

Some details I have discovered about having a top website I can’t disclose but instead implement my company website.
